Jacksonville, Alabama -– Award winning WLJS broadcaster Ed Moore III is preparing to sign off the airwaves Friday following an announcement last week he will be leaving the Alabama radio station at the beginning of next year to lead a civil and human rights group.
In a statement released Wednesday, Moore, 21, says after three years, he will end his time at WLJS on January 1, 2014 to launch the Justice and Civil Rights Initiative, which will be based at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama.
The JCRI, according to the group's mission statement created by Moore, will “assist in the progression of civil, social and cultural understanding for all people, while providing advocacy to address and investigate acts of civil or human wrongdoing.”

“The group has already generated a significant, diverse desire for participation,” said Moore. “I have already appointed a vice president who will be revealed to the public before the end of the month.”
Moore will host his final broadcast, Ed Moore III: A Final Farewell, this Friday night at 8:30 P.M. CST / 9:30 P.M Eastern Time. Northeast Alabama listeners may tune into 91.9 FM.
The broadcast will stream live worldwide online at www.wljsnews.weebly.com.
Moore has worked at WLJS since 2011.
